Join the Allen Masonic Lodge for breakfast Saturday, August 2nd, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., at the Lodge on West Broadway. The breakfast fund-raisers are held the first Saturday of each month with a menu of sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and coffee.
After much anticipation, progress is finally underway at Allen Park! Ground was broken last week on the park’s long-awaited upgrade, and the community response has been overwhelmingly positive.
One can only say “Wow” while driving down Broadway these days. Former residents and Allen Mustangs Darren and Tina Gregory have purchased and remodeled the old Josie Chiles home at the southwest corner of Broadway and Baltimore Streets. The well-located house had stood mostly vacant since 1986 when our Miss Josie, a beloved teacher of the 2nd grade passed on. Miss Chiles taught 2nd grade for 40 years (so I’m told) and is still well remembered.
Mother Nature wasn’t friendly or supportive of the Allen Independence Day Celebration scheduled for last Saturday. But it wasn’t a total “wash out.”
Plans are underway for Allen’s annual Independence Celebration, set for Saturday, July 12th at Allen Park— and you won’t want to miss it!
Allen City Council Approves Fire Department Requests, Discusses Street and Park Improvements Allen, OK – August 5, 2025 The Allen City Council met Monday, August 5, with all members present: Dianna Brannan, Melinda Haney, Charlie Hentorn, Josh Marshall, and Rhonda Skelton. City Manager Calem Woodward, City Clerk Pam Crabtree, Police Chief Darrel Armstrong, and Officer Jeremy Burris were also in attendance. Council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and authorized July’s purchase orders.

A Wonderful Life First
Living in Allen, you get to watch a lot of humanity, just like in other small towns that populate our fruited plain. Another nice thing about writing a weekly article in a small town paper such as ours is you get to observe and even be a part of the details that make America interesting. Big stuff in our small towns as time passes by is watching kids grow up, mature (most of them) and sometimes we get to share in the pride they bring to their families and our town as they go out and see what other happenings take place.
