Rites held for Jame Morrison

James Lon ‘Jim’ Morrison passed away at his home in Gerty, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
Jim is the son of Ernest Eugene Morrison and Lena (DeWhitt) Morrison, born on October 15, 1948, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Jim’s mother passed away when he was very young, and he was brought up by his stepmother, Vera Catherine (Lindenman) Morrison. His father was a preacher and in Jim’s early years the family traveled the country following his ministry. Jim attended schools in Texas and Kansas, and graduated Augusta High School in Augusta, Kansas, with the Class of 1967.
He married Glenda Kay Middlebrooks in Dallas, Texas on August 31, 1968. He worked selling encyclopedias door-to-door, then moved to Houston, Texas where he worked ten years in accounting and running computers for Exxon Mobile. The family moved to Iowa in 1977, then to Texas and on to Kansas, where they spent several years in various churches. They moved to Oklahoma where Jim was business manager for Mid America Bible College in Oklahoma City. He earned his ABD in Liberal Arts. He worked twentyfi ve years at Oklahoma University as curriculum advisor for the Liberal Arts Program, and taught online courses at various colleges. He filled in as pastor for several churches throughout Oklahoma. He was a preacher for forty-three years. Teaching and preaching was his hobby and also his passion. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. He retired in 2023.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Glenda Morrison, of the home; two sons, James Alon Morrison (Angel) and Nathan Lee Morrison, all of Gerty; four grandsons; one sister, Janice Middlebrooks of Oklahoma City; numerous other relatives, and many friends.
Memorial service were held on Saturday, August 23rd,10:00am, at Lighthouse Of Prayer Church in Arpelar. Rev. Walter Kuhlman and Rev. Aaron Finney were the officiating ministers. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas James Morrison, Brandon Garrett Morrison, Connor Ryan Morrison, and Kaleb Alon Morrison.
