Service held for Jim Anderson

James (Jim) F. Anderson, age 84 of Allen, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

James was born July 23, 1940 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to Clint and Tilda Mae (Ussery) Anderson. James was a 1958 Allen graduate. He entered the US Army at 17 and spent the next 11 years serving his country as a Vietnam Era Army Veteran stationed in Germany for three tours. He married his sweetheart, Mary Lynette (Lyn) Williams, on May 3, 1963 in Haltom City, Texas.

Together, they navigated Army life, and upon ending his career while stationed in Detroit, Michigan, the two took off to Texas, but stopped in Clinton, Iowa after hearing of job openings with DuPont. He was hired on the spot, and the two settled in Camanche, Iowa, where they raised their three daughters. He retired, 35 years later, packed up and moved back to his hometown of Allen, Oklahoma.

His hobbies included tinkering in his garage, collecting toys, mowing, riding his motorcycle, going to his two meetings a day (for coffee), and driving around town in his little red truck. He and his wife traveled the world by plane, cruise ships, train, bus, and in their motor home, creating amazing memories and stories. He traveled the states by motorcycle, including a ten-day trip to Yellowstone National Park.

Jim spent his life as an avid supporter of the Allen Mustangs, the Camanche Iowa Indians, NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. James was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first and was a very proud girl Dad! He made so many smile with his quick wit and silly personality.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lynette; three daughters, Jamie (Robert) Sheets, LeaAnn Wells, and Joni (Andy) Hill; three sisters, Francis Berglund, Dorothy Price-Poison, and Mildred (Phil) Burk; grandchildren, Alycia (Tanner) Napier, Grant Sheets, AJ Hill, Beckett Wells, Brayden Sheets, Riley Sheets, Alex Hill, and McKenzie Sheets; great- grandchildren Kash and Krue Napier; close cousin/brother, Ray (Felicia) Anderson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and their wives Bob (Bobbie Sue) (Lula), Tom (Jo), and Donald (Shirley), and brother-inlaw’s Lyle Berglund and Bob Price.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24th, at the Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church of Allen. Bobby Briggs offciated. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery.

Bearers were his seven grandsons and his two sons-in-law. Honorary bearers were Phil Burk, Ray Anderson, Steve Butcher, Bob Harden and James Summers.
