Former Superintendent Crow Passes Away

Services for Billy Frank Crow, age 84, an Atoka resident for most of his life, were 10:00 am Wednesday, July 30th, at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Atoka, with Bro. Jerry Williams, David Lassiter, and Sam Rodriguez officiating. Interment followed at Butler Cemetery, Lane, Oklahoma.

He was born on Saturday, July 26, 1941, to JR and Gladys Laverne (Phillips) Crow, in Atoka, Oklahoma. Billy passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Atoka. He graduated from Atoka High School in 1959 and went on to SOSU where he received his BS in Industrial Arts and Mathematics and later received a Master’s Degree in School Administration.

Billy Frank got a job in Lovington, New Mexico as an Industrial Arts teacher and coach. In 1971, he moved his family to Denison where he taught Math and coached at McDaniel Junior High School. He began to teach classes at Grayson County College and later taught there full-time. He was instrumental in setting up the first computer system there. He came back full circle in 1981 when he returned to Atoka Public Schools in administration.

He and Clifteen moved to Allen Public Schools where they retired and moved back to Atoka.

During high school he started dating Clifteen Thompson, the love of his life. They married and had two daughters, Tanya and Valerie. Billy and Clifteen were married for 64 years.

Bill was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and a deacon in several churches and a member of many clubs during his life. He and Clifteen loved to see new places and often included family in their adventures. He loved his family more than life.

Billy is survived by his wife, Juanita Clifteen Crow of the home in Atoka; daughters, Tanya Lindley and special friend Dallas Ketchum, and Valerie Rodriguez and husband Sam; grandchildren, Devin and Chelsea Lindley, Jonathan and Lauren Rodriguez, Camden and Nick Pinkerton, and Hunter and Kayleigh Lindley; greatgrandchildren Emrie, Abrie, Grady, Ellie, Ben, Caddo Rose, Nico, Camille, Cora, Ivory, and Theodore; along with other relatives and many dear friends.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, JR and Gladys Laverne Crow; in-laws, Cliff and Ruby Thompson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Brichacek; and son-inlaw, Jackie Lindley Jr.
